Photo 1 ~ Fresh figs for fig bars ~ later today. YUMMMM
made green smoothies almost every day at our family reunion & everyone who tried them liked them! Yesterday my MIL got a Ninja blender, cuz she liked ours so much…I hope my hubz’ family starts making their own green smoothies…
now I need a juicer. ;-)
I’ve been eating green smoothies for a few weeks, since I’m trying to eat more raw fruits n’ veggies! Today was the first day I’ve tried out kale instead of spinach. Spinach is a great “starter green,” because it’s completely tasteless blended in a smoothie. You could make a fruit smoothie, toss in two cups of spinach and barely notice.
Kale is more “green” tasting and I LOVE IT. And it’s ridiculously nutritious (see here).
My smoothie: 2 c. kale, 1/2 c. frozen blueberries, 1 frozen banana, 1/2 c. orange juice, 1/2 c. water.
going on a 7-day raw vegan challenge this week…I’m already craving cooked food!! This was really yummy, though. Banana + frozen blueberries + spinach + cashew cream + orange juice.
My mouth is watering…I’m going to have to try this soon!
(This would taste amazing with fresh summer tomatoes and basil, too! Making a note…)
Today I was in the mood for a raw tomato soup. I had only two tomatoes left on-hand, so it’s a small recipe, and weaker on the tomato flavor than I would like. Still, I think I’m off to an okay start with this throw-together first-run, and I’m looking forward to tinkering with it….
TOMATO…
sprouting chickpeas for raw hummus ~ my first venture into “true” raw…making? I can’t say baking or cooking, can I!
